IBM Cloud Command Line Interface (ibmcloud) by IBM is a cross-platform tool that lets you manage and automate IBM Cloud resources directly from your terminal. It streamlines common tasks—such as authenticating with IAM, configuring regions and resource groups, provisioning services, and deploying applications—making it ideal for developers, DevOps engineers, and cloud administrators who prefer scriptable, repeatable workflows.

Key features:

  • Unified control: Log in with API keys or SSO, switch accounts, regions, and resource groups, and manage IAM users, access policies, and service IDs.
  • Resource management: Create, update, and monitor IBM Cloud services, including databases, storage, networking, and compute.
  • Kubernetes and OpenShift: Provision and operate IBM Cloud Kubernetes Service (IKS) clusters and Red Hat OpenShift on IBM Cloud (ROKS).
  • Application deployment: Work with Cloud Foundry apps and other IBM Cloud runtimes and services.
  • Extensible with plugins: Add capabilities for infrastructure (VPC and classic), Functions, Schematics (Terraform), Code Engine, Object Storage, and more.
  • Automation ready: Use in CI/CD pipelines with JSON output, quiet modes, and consistent exit codes for reliable scripting.
  • Cross-platform: Available for macOS, Windows, and Linux with built-in help and command autocompletion support in common shells.

With a modular design and a rich plugin ecosystem, the IBM Cloud CLI offers a fast, consistent way to provision, operate, and troubleshoot workloads across IBM Cloud—all from the command line.
